Our April Books of the Month

The sun is out (don’t quote us on that) and the days are longer which means we can read for even longer without having to put a light on.

This month we have selected another two outstanding books:

Roam Alone: Inspiring Tales by Reluctant Solo Travellers £10.99

From cycling in Shetland to power cuts in Laos, Roam Alone is a celebration of inspiring writers who went it alone and lived to tell the tale.

Featuring a foreword by TV presenter and newsreader Jan Leeming, Roam Alone: Inspiring Tales by Reluctant Solo Travellers is a unique title from Bradt, showcasing a brand new collection of remarkable travellers’ tales with a different slant, following on the heels of To Oldly Go!, one of the UK’s bestselling travel titles of 2015.

Writers featured in Roam Alone include Phoebe Smith, Jennifer Barclay, Hilary Bradt, and 37 new travel writers chosen from a worldwide competition to find the best stories by reluctant solo travellers.

And for the kids:

The Big Book of Beasts £12.95

Following on from the hugely successful The Big Book of Bugs, The Big Book of Beasts is a fact–filled book about wild animals for young children.

This book explains that beasts are wild animals that can’t be tamed and gives tips on how to spot them in their natural habitats.

We are introduced to lots of different animals as well as mythical beasts, Ice–Age beasts, beasts on your street and how to save beasts in danger. The text is chatty, funny and full of amazing facts. A great one for some Easter holiday reading.
