Map of the Month: Scottish Whisky Distilleries Map

Calling all whisky enthusiasts. Plan a distillery tour around Scotland.

Our Map of the Month for January is the Scottish Whisky Distilleries Map by Nicholson Digital.

Many distilleries now offer world class visitor experiences and have been able to bring much needed jobs around Scotland. Over 11,000 people are directly employed in the Scotch whisky industry in Scotland and over 60% of these jobs are in rural communities across the Highlands and Islands.

This map shows over 140 distilleries on exceptionally clear road mapping, allowing you to navigate to your chosen destination. Enlarged inset map of Speyside and clearly defined production regions allows you to plan your distilleries tour according to your tastebuds.

Speyside is a “protected region” for Scotch Whisky distilling under UK Government legislation. According to Visit Scotland, this region includes the area between the Highlands to the west, Aberdeenshire in the east and extending north to the Cairngorms National Park. Roughly 50 percent of Scotland’s whisky is said to be made here.

Distilleries are indexed with addresses and full contact details are clearly shown as those with and with our visitor facilities.

With a foreword by Blair Bowman, whisky consultant, who once managed to visit 60 distilleries in one day! If anyone can beat that, the drams are on us.

Fun facts and information on the reverse include such gems as ‘Over 20 million casks of whisky are maturing in Scotland at any given moment- which means that’s approximately 4 casks each for the population.’
