11 good behaviour rules from the IGN to help respect others on Greenways:

  1. Keep to the right. This avoids most conflicts. Use lights to be more visible to users who share lanes.
  2. When stopping, do not park in the middle of the lane. Use the aisles or rest areas.
  3. Cyclists and rollerbladers, slow down when approaching pedestrians and children. Take care of horses and dogs and avoid frightening them. Notify other users by using your bell (mandatory for cyclists). Respect the road rules that consider the cyclist as a vehicle and rollerblading as a pedestrian.
  4. Horse riders, keep to the areas that you are allowed, and at the pace imposed (usually pace not trot).
  5. For groups of pedestrians, do not take up the full width of the track.
  6. Owners of dogs, keep your pet on a leash, making sure that the leash doesn’t cross the track and block the way.
  7. Respect furniture and fittings available for all (fountains, tables, benches, info boards…) and plants. Keep the lane and its environment clean by using toilets and bins, or take your rubbish with you. Smokers put out your cigarettes properly and do not throw them.
  8. Stay on the path and it’s surroundings. Respect the properties.
  9. Let certain motorised vehicles (such as service vehicles and agricultural machinery) pass.
  10. Along the water, respect the tranquility of fishermen. Fishermen, take care to avoid disturbing the users of the greenway with your vehicle or fishing rods.
  11. Last but not least, it is not forbidden to greet people when you pass.
