5 Last Minute Father’s Day Gifts

We’ve been described as a ‘Dad Mecca’ here at Stanfords; a ‘Dadtopia’ if you will. Some days, walking through the store, all we see is a sea of Dads with their heads in maps and their glasses balanced on the ends of their noses, intent on mapping out their adventures entirely alone, lest they be forced to stop and ask for directions.

 Nautical Port/ Starboard Socks £7.50

What could be more Dad than a pair of socks? Probably these nautical themed ones. Featuring Port and Starboard, these socks are a thoughtful take on the impulse stock-Dad purchase. Watch him wearing them with sandals for added embarrassment.

A History of the World in 500 Railway Journeys by Sarah Baxter £20.00

As much as Dads love long car journeys because they get to use their favourite catchphrases like; “Pack it in!” and “Don’t make me come back there,” what they really love is a railway journey. In fact, just reading about them does the trick.

Stanford’s Chart of the Solent, Spithead and Southampton Water (1932) from £7.99

This is one of the most detailed maps from our Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection archive so if your dad’s a stickler for detail, he will love this one. Published in 1932, it shows the entire Isle of Wight and the surrounding coast line from Selsey to Milford on Sea and contains extensive tidal information and explanations.

Reproductions are available in a variety of sizes on paper or canvas from £7.99.

Modern Man Keyring Hip Flask £7.99

The words “hip” and “Dad” don’t really go together, although it is probably just Dads who still use the word “hip” anyway. This “hip” hip flask is a great gift that would be made greater if you pre-filled it with his favourite whisky.

Heat-Change Constellation Mug £12.00

Father: What comes after “S”?

Child: “T”?

Father: Thanks, I’d love a cup.

Child: *Sigh*

It’s probably time to replace his ‘World’s Greatest Dad’ mug with something classier. This star mug reveals the constellations when hot water is poured into it.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there.
