A 15-year-old schoolboy was one of many who visited the Stanfords’ store in London one evening in October. Ankit Chandaria (here pictured with Peter Noble of the Royal Photographic Society) was one of those who brought his favourite pictures to the Meet the Experts night – where the judges of the Insight Guides / Independent on Sunday Travel Photography competition offered expert advice to aspiring travel photographers.
The evening coincided with the prize-giving for the annual competition. One of this year’s winners – Mark Reuby – also took the opportunity to show some of his other pictures to the judges. Mark is pictured below with Sophie Batterbury, picture editor of the Independent on Sunday.
Mark, 33, from Deal in Kent, took his winning images in the Masai Mara in July. He is a co-ordinator in the Learning Resources Centre at Canterbury College and he won a Canon Power Shot SX200 IS, with a wide-angle 28mm lens and 12X zoom. This camera captures landscapes or distant subjects and can even shoot in HD video, which is perfect for capturing travel memories.
Katharine Leck, MD of Insight Guides, said, “Being a travel photographer is seen as a dream job, and our ‘Meet the Experts’ night at Stanfords offers really valuable advice to aspiring travel photographers from London and beyond.”
