Journey of a Lifetime Award

Are you passionate about radio and storytelling? Are you excited about finding new ways to tell original stories in sound? Are you itching to explore and understand the world around you?

If so, then you should definitely apply for the Journey of a Lifetime Award. Given in partnership between the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and BBC Radio 4, the Journey of a Lifetime Award offers £5,000 to make a unique journey anywhere in the world – it could be far away, or closer to home – and the opportunity to record your own travel documentary for Radio 4. The recipient of the award will receive training in field recording from the BBC, you’ll be given the use of specialist recording equipment to capture those special moments on your adventure, and you’ll work with a BBC documentary producer to create the finished programme.

Previous recipients of this prestigious award have travelled to the isolated Pacific island of Pitcairn, worked with the gauchos of Argentina, and explored the remote mountain valleys of Tajikistan. The Journey of a Lifetime Award was established in 2001 to discover new radio talent, so if you are a brilliant storyteller with an inspiring idea for a journey that you want to share with the world, then don’t miss the 6th November 2017 application deadline.
