If so, then you should definitely apply for the Journey of a Lifetime Award. Given in partnership between the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and BBC Radio 4, the Journey of a Lifetime Award offers £5,000 to make a unique journey anywhere in the world – it could be far away, or closer to home – and the opportunity to record your own travel documentary for Radio 4. The recipient of the award will receive training in field recording from the BBC, you’ll be given the use of specialist recording equipment to capture those special moments on your adventure, and you’ll work with a BBC documentary producer to create the finished programme.
Previous recipients of this prestigious award have travelled to the isolated Pacific island of Pitcairn, worked with the gauchos of Argentina, and explored the remote mountain valleys of Tajikistan.
