Paddle boarder attempts the length of the UK

Adventurer and one of Ordnance Survey’s #GetOutside champions, Lizzie Carr has just set off on an attempt to paddle board the length of England via its connected waterways. This is the first time anyone has attempted this challenge and Lizzie hopes the 400 mile trip from the River Wey up to the Lancaster Canal will take about three weeks.

The need for Tweed

It’s probably the politest peloton ever. This Saturday, the annual Tweed Run sees tweed clad cyclists riding through London on mainly vintage bicycles stopping off for spots of tea (gin) and luncheon japes en route. So if you see them, now you know what that’s all about. You haven’t gone back in time.

Flights are in fact cheaper on Friday 13th

Turns out this isn’t just hearsay. Looking at flight comparison websites, the Telegraph has reported that we are a superstitious bunch and are actually avoiding flying on this day deemed unlucky for some. Flights are up to 41% cheaper and the savings don’t stop at flights, they also stretch to hotels.

Climbers reach the peak of Everest

It’s been a couple of years since anyone has made it to the top of Mount Everest (and we aren’t just talking about our 1st floor). On Thursday morning, Nine Sherpa climbers successfully completed the 8,848 metre climb. In 2014 climbing season was suspended following natural disasters.
